Bertha Sepulveda
One of our own chapter's founding members, Bertha Sepulveda, was awarded the 2009 National Association of Hispanic Nurses--Hispanic Nurse of the Year Award in July during the National conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Bertha's career has included working with Maricopa County Health Services where she worked in community health nursing, outpatient care management and senior executive administration. She retired as Vice-President of Business Development for MIHS in September, 1997. Bertha Then took on the position of Director of Special Projects for Mesa Community College where she developed the Enfermeras en Escalera Program (E3) and received the Maricopa County Community College District Innovation of the Year Award in 1996. Bertha recently retired from this position in June, 2009.
Other special mention for Bertha's career include working as a Flight Nurse, 2nd Lieutenant, Reserve, Nurse Corps, US Air Force; winner of the 1996 National Association of Hispanic Nurses--Janie Menchaca Nurse Leader of the Year; and worked on the Nursing Shortage Task Force and the Tobacco Tax Trust, both Governor-appointed positions.
